Doctor Farzana Virani

    Farzna Virani, OD

Dr Farzana Virani earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston before completing her Doctorate of Optometry at The New England College of Optometry in 2005. Her training included externships at veterans hospitals, community health centers, army bases, and tertiary care centers, where she treated advanced glaucoma, macular degeneration, amblyopia, and complex ocular diseases.

Her personal experiences caring for family members with retinal detachments, macular holes, and cataracts have fueled her passion for patient-centered, holistic care. Dr. Virani’s treatment plans are personalized and focused on improving both eye health and overall well-being.

Dr. Virani takes a holistic approach to eye care, understanding how lifestyle, work, environment, and hormonal factors affect ocular health. She empowers patients with customized wellness plans, aiming to improve their comfort, vision, and quality of life through proactive, preventative care.

In addition to ocular surface management, Dr. Virani evaluates patients suffering from chronic migraines and headaches. She identifies subtle eye muscle imbalances and prescribes specialized prism glasses that have brought relief to patients after years of unresolved symptoms, neurological exams, and imaging

Now living in Sandy Springs, GA, Dr. Virani has built a loyal following from her time at Mt. Vernon Eye Care. Outside of optometry, she is a creative spirit — having co-produced films, performed in improv and stage plays, modeled, and studied yoga and breathing techniques at an ashram. She often shares these relaxation techniques with her patients to promote whole-body wellness. She is also an enthusiastic foodie, traveler, and community advocate.

In 2017, Dr. Virani participated in Dancing Stars of Atlanta, raising over $46,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. She is proud to be a member of the Elois Society for Alzheimer's.
